FLU Information!

"Dear Sheronzo --
I ran across your blog and I’m sorry to read that you’re not feeling well. You're not alone. In fact, as of March 8, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported that New York and California are two of 42 states that are experiencing “widespread” levels of the flu, which means people around you may still have the flu.
If you’re experiencing flu symptoms -- like a sudden, high fever and aches and pains -- you don’t have to take it lying down. Contact your doctor right away to get an accurate diagnosis and treatment. Visit
fluFACTS.com for more information and to track the flu in your area. Also, follow these "Take 3" recommendations from the CDC:

1. Take time to get a flu vaccine (it’s never to late in the season to get a vaccination).2. Take everyday preventive actions (like washing your hands often and covering your cough).3. Take antiviral drugs if your doctor says to. If taken in the first 12-48 hours of feeling sick, antivirals can help you get better faster. The CDC recommends oseltamivir (brand name Tamiflu®) or zanamivir (brand name Relenza®). According to a CDC Health Advisory, recent studies suggest a considerable protective effect against complications associated with influenza when these medications are used for treatment.

Remember – if you’re not sure if you have the flu, see your doctor and go to
fluFACTS.com for more information."

Hey Ya'll ... a very nice person who was reading my blog sent me this email about the FLU ... it's some additional information that I think you all could find very helpful! I'm finally over the flu but I actually ended up taking all 5 days off!!!!! This is a whopper of a virus!! Please be careful and go see a doctor if you think you have the flu. I could have avoided being out for 5 days but thankfully I had sick days to cover my booty! Not everyone is so lucky so please be careful out there and take good care of yourselves! I had to face an inquiry at work (LOL) for being out all 5 days I think they suspected that I might have gone to Hawaii and enjoyed my sickness too much! But alas, if that were only true. In reality, I was quite bedridden ... it was a horrific experience that I hope to GOD that you all never have to experience. Speaking of vacations ... my hunny is off in Miami with his mom!!!!! I'm sooooo jealous!!!!! I was watching the news last night and though it was 50 degrees outside .... I saw that in california it was 65 degrees!!!!! Waaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!!!! I wanna go back to cali coz I'm white and I hate it!!!! I wanna be tan agaaaaaaiiin.... all right .... enough with the whining. Hope ya'll having a great day! Ciao! *^_~*

Pink Patch Update

"Anonymous said...
hey, i bought it as well, at first i bought the one week supply n wanted to hv a try but a few days later i received an email from them saying that i've ordered an one month supply n they were on the way of shipping. And i received the email again after that. i didnt pay attention to that till i noticed that they've charged me 40 pounds--this is crazy, cuz i've never ordered anything after the one week supply. has this happended to u as well?"

Ok ya'll, I apparently TOTALLY forgot to blog about what happened with the 30-day supply of the pink patch that I got. So I received the 30-day supply and was using it but I developed a bit of a skin irritation/rash to the patch (there is only so many places that you can stick the darn thing after all!!!! LOL) so I had to discontinue. However, I must say that it does really reduce your appetite. If you're hoping to lose weight on it ... the results will vary. If you're already fairly in shape and you're just looking to lose those last stubborn few pounds, the pink patch will do nothing for you other than curb your appetite. If you are overweight, extremely overweight, or obese you may actually see more results from the use of the pink patch. There is a very simple scientific explanation (in case you're wondering about my credentials I have a B.S. Biological Sciences and had a major emphasis in pre-med. I spent 2 years working in perfusion in cardiac surgery and another 1.5 years in cardiology as a clinical specialist. Additionally, I was a fitness instructor for a couple of high profile gyms); the reason you'll see results from the patch is because it curbs your appetite, therefore causing you to consume less calories. If you consume less calories you'll lose weight. Weight loss is easy science (for the most part). If you eat more calories in a day than your body requires, you'll gain weight. If you eat less calories in a day than your body requires to function normally, you'll lose weight. Overweight people also tend to lose weight more easily than average sized people, ever notice that? How come 2 people (one average, the other overweight) doing the same exact exercise, lose different amounts of calories? The overweight person will burn more calories because it takes far more energy to move a larger mass. Therefore the overweight person will most likely see greater results from doing the same exercise as their counterpart average person working out at the same rate. But I digress ...

To answer your question, they didn't charge me the $40 until the 2-week mark which they said they would do and after I realized I was having a reaction to the patch, I emailed them and canceled my account which they did promptly. I have not since had to deal with them. If you kept any of the paperwork that they sent you, it does state that if you are not satisfied with the product within the first 30-days, you can return the remaining supply for a FULL REFUND! If you don't have this paperwork I'd be happy to send out copies so that you all can have it yourselves. You can also call them at 866-468-3300 or email them at customercare@curbyourcravings.com with any additional questions. Just as a word of caution if you send them an email or call them, make sure they send you a confirmation email stating that they received your request to cancel and that they have done so. This way if any other problems should arise you have proof that you canceled! Hope this helps! Have a fantastic day!

Varying Symptoms

Ok ya'll i'm gonna talk about a subject I just KNOW the boys don't want to have ANYTHING to do with ... but I'm suffering and dang it ... I wanna blog about it! So it's that lovely time of the month for me and my cycles are a little different than everyone else's. Most girls are on a 4 week cycle ... yours truly, however, is on a 8-week cycle. The problem is that we all know those horrible symptoms known to cause PMS (Pre-Menstrual Syndrome) also comes with our cycles. They're usually pretty consistent but mine seem to vary tremendously. Does anyone else have that problem? Like my last cycle in February, I got back pain, my breasts swoll up and were very sensitive, I had bad cramps after the start of the cycle and I was ravenous before the cycle but not after it started. Once my cycle started I didn't want to eat at all. Now with this current cycle (it started yesterday 3/25) I had a little bit of back pain but not prior to the cycle, it started when the cycle started, I wasn't ravenous before the cycle, I have cramps again but this time around I'm eating like a horse during my cycle. Check this out; today I had a huge bowl of fruit, plantain chips and some twizzlers before lunch ... I finished munching at 12:55pm and I went to lunch with a friend at 1:00pm, WTF?!?!?!?! I had a LARGE bowl of soup and I don't feel full AT ALL!!!! Isn't that frightening?!?!?! I ate ALL of that stuff and I don't feel full at all, on the contrary, I feel like I could eat more and my eyes are currently roving my desk for snacks. It's unbelievable! I feel like i'm a bottomless pit that will not be satisfied no matter how much I eat and to top it all off, Robert and I are going to be headed to Dinosaur BBQ tonight!!!!! Do you know how big their servings ARE?! I highly recommend that if you haven't tried this place ... you should! You should probably like meat too ... you get ALOT of that, it's a great rib spot! On top of that, I didn't go to the gym today b/c of my cramps and the fact that I felt like garbage that fell out of the dump truck and was swept to the wayward side of street where I was trodden on and kicked into the drain stormage and roasted for a few days until the rain came and swept me into the bowels of the subway stations and floated aimlessly until I came to a rest upon another muddy pile of trash where a Rat came by and pissed on me before a myriad of subway trains ran me over in their pursuit of a destination. It's been a long morning OK? So in preparation for this Dinosaur BBQ excursion that Robert and I are about to embark on, once the food for these greedy (not all but some) attorneys finally arrives. You know, they complained about having the same places over and over and so I tried to give them a variety and one of them had the audacity to come up to me and complain about having a variety?! She claimed that the food was "awful" and she hadn't even tried it yet ... it was "awful" because they gave her a small portion. You just can't please everyone, I guess. Luckily, I don't care that much! Muwahahahahaha! Anyways, I can't believe I went on that severe of a tangent ... I ended up, after lunch, going to Daffy's across the street from where I work (their stuff is so janky ... it's completely questionable! LOL!) and bought a pair of elastic pants to switch into on our way up to Dinosaur BBQ so that I can eat uninhibited. LMAO... imagine that ... me? Inhibited while I eat? Good grief... I must plan on rolling home. I may very well end up catching a cab although that's most likely improbable. Bus? Trains? I'm going to be up in HARLEM.... one never knows. Well, I should get back to work, right? I'm such a slacker. LOL! *^_^* Ciao!

Bantam Flu

All right folks ... heavy apologies for not writing and the extended delay between posts ... but ya'll should know that "yours truly" was battling a bout of the "BANTAM FLU"!!! It's not really called the "bantam" flu but I decided to add the bantam for a very good reason. Now normally "bantam" is a word one would use to describe a person or chicken (there are such things as miniature chickens apparently! I was very surprised to discover this information myself, this morning! Sorry for the tangent, back to the topic!). Now the word "bantam" used on a person means, "A small but aggressive and spirited person." I am applying it to the Flu because the flu is a viral attack on your immune system, which makes it "small". It's onset is rapid 3-6 hours, generally with no symptoms before onset, and makes you feel like CRAP for days; which, finally, fills in the "aggressive and spirited" part. I can't seem to recall the last time I've felt so horribly! I spent all saturday night burning up with a severe FEVER and then I spent sunday completely bed-ridden. I believe I was only awake for 4-5 hours of the day, if that. Then I spent Monday morning (called in sick!) hacking up my poor lungs! I was expecting to see one of the lobes just pop up out of my throat, no joke! I took my dogs out for a brisk walk around 2pm to see if I didn't feel better and almost didn't complete that task ... I was huffing and puffing by the time I got back to the apartment. I had to let the boys off the leash and let them walk themselves because I couldn't hold on to them anymore! Isn't that pathetic?! The worst part is that they weren't really pulling anymore than they really do it's just that I was too exhausted, my muscles were in major fatigue and I couldn't handle walking myself and towing an extra 33lbs (Ronny 15lbs; Scooter 18lbs)! It was terrible! It's unbelievable how poorly this viral infection can make you feel! Additionally, it's wreaking complete havoc on my appetite! Last night, I was feeling better and I ate dinner (chinese food) just fine but this morning after I made myself some boiled eggs; I had one egg white and wanted to HURL!!! Now my stomach wont' stop doing flips ... so strange! I always feel the worst in the morning and then I'll feel better progressively through the day. Weirdness, well I just wanted to let you all know what you could be in for! I've taken 2 days off of work now in order to recover and to also prevent myself from spreading this horrible viral infection to my other co-workers! Hopefully i'll feel well enough to head in to work tomorrow. Thank GOD for sick days! Oh btw, they say that if you experience flu-like symptoms or you think you have the flu you should see the doctor within the first 12-48 hours ... I didn't see that until after the 48th hour ... lucky me. Take a hint, learn from my mistake. Maybe I wouldn't be suffering so much if I had seen that information sooner. Take care and GOD BLESS everyone! *Smua!*

Alaska's at it again ...

So here's the problem ... I'm Alaskan ... and I hate to diss Alaska, but the State Board of Game has once again made another deplorable decision to shoot wolves in an attempt to control the wolf population just before Caribou birthing in the Aleutian Arc! What's the justification for shooting the wolves? So that "HUMAN HUNTERS HAVE MORE CARIBOU TO SHOOT"! This is so embarrassing for an Alaskan to hear ... it really is. Ya'll can checkout the article yourselves, it's called, "Board of Game Plays More Games: Alaska Finds New Excuse to Kill Wolves". How can people justify killing wolves who NATURALLY hunt Caribou and who have nothing but their teeth, claws and legs to hunt the caribou with? They can't even come close to competing with humans who have camouflage and guns! It's really unfair and to top it all off the State Board of Game wants to kill wolves from the air. They can't even get down and dirty with the wolves they have to FLY?!?! Talk about an extremely unfair advantage!!!! It doesn't even give the wolves the opportunity to hide and flee. I'm really disgusted by this information. Alaska has been killing wolves from helicopters, roughly, for the last 10 years. They've been stopped a couple of times from these genocides but they continue to try and kill more every year out of pure greed. 60% of Alaskans are already OVERWEIGHT!!! I think we can afford to share some of the food with the wolves!!!! People make no sense to me and then we want to wonder why we have greenhouse effects, global warming, species of animals that are going extinct, etc ... it's coz we're sooooo greedy that we kill off anything that competes with us in any capacity for the same resources because we feel that we are so vastly superior! If we took away our clothes, guns and weapons and pitted ourselves against these animals with just what GOD naturally gave us ... we would LOSE!!!! Not by a little bit ... but get so thoroughly throttled that we would have to reconsider our rank in the food chain! We'd probably end up somewhere near the bottom! I hope that the Alaskan State Board of Game is not allowed to kill the wolves down in the Aleutian Arcs. There's really absolutely no justification for it. We can all share.

No Malice!

My girls from Cali came to visit me this weekend! Actually, we all USED to live in california and we all (roughly) moved out to the "East Coast area"* (term used loosely! *^_^*). All for different reasons; Shaunte moved to Illinois for Medical School. Mosa moved to Baltimore for the Teaching Fellows Program and I moved to New York City for a promotion from a job. Who could have known? Anyways, the girls arrived around 9pm on saturday night (they drove up from Baltimore! Shaunte flew into Baltimore friday night). We had some quick Thai food for dinner, which was very yummy might I add, and we had pre-gamed before hitting the social scene. Pre-game? Ok for all you grannies who DON'T know what that actually means ... it just means that we stopped at the liquor store around the corner from my house to pick up some booze and mixers and drank pre-going out so that we already had a great buzz and to prevent ourselves from spending excessively at the bar! Yeah, we're cheapos! So what? Shaunte's a poor, starving student, Mosa's a teacher, and I'm a lowly paralegal ... we aren't living the high life ... BACK OFF!!!! LOL ... anyways, so in the picture above (from front to back: Mosa, Me, Shaunte), we headed out to No Malice Palace and partied with some friends! This place has been seeing lots of my hard earned dough yo! Next weekend (3/15) is also Leesh's birthday bash and I'll be back at No Malice!! hahahahahah It's a great thing that I really like the place and Matt (the bouncer) is a great friend of my boyfriend. Well they're like extended family! So Matt and I are friends as well! He's the best! I miss my girls already ... Mosa left on monday and Shaunte just left today ... and I have to go back to work tomorrow! Most boooooooos! Yuck! I really was enjoying just doing nothing and hanging out with friends! No wonder some women, also known as, gold-diggers have figured out that hanging out with friends while spending someone else's money is the best method. Maybe I should follow in their footsteps? Hahahaha just kidding! THere's nothing more gratifying than knowing that you earned your own keep that you don't have to depend on ANYONE to do things for you. Anyways ... back to the grind ... see ya tomorrow! *^_~*
